growing up in a YEC Dispensationalist Baptist church I was taught that the whole NT was inextricably tied to Adam & Noah being 100% real people & that what happened to them had to be at least 95% - 100% accurate or the bible was a lie & the whole thing was for nothing (without Adam/no original sin/no need for Jesus) of course with all that baggage there were certain things to dispute evolution radiometric dating geological record (it had to be interpreted as being a result of the flood) fossil record (a YEC interpretation was defended over an evolutionary one) in some ways I was isolated from anyone who might be able to set me straight in a strange series of events the NT narrative began to erode for me especially after turning 18 eventually I couldn't accept any part of the NT as true I didn't have any reason to reject the OT but 1 day as I was reading a book I suddenly realized that even the OT could not have a literal interpretation so I just stopped believing it at all I started going to an Episcopal church for lack of anything better to do but I can't say that I was really believing that it mattered any more I didn't have any loyalty to the actual teachings or anything I did learn that there was a different way of looking at things but I just wasn't really satisfied being an Episcopalian after a while I discovered a book that encouraged me to investigate Norse gods & nothing in the book suggested mythical literalism so I know why many Christians insist on a YEC position They don't want the young Christians in their churches to end up like me (as if ending up like me is a terrible thing) intuitively many Christians understand that YEC is just another tool of coercion to keep people in the church that is the brand of Christianity that hooks people in who are going through extreme crises in their lives & the result is sad

Not to get too personal, but having literal experiences (with Hecate), it is difficult for me to fathom how someone can be anti-theist and utilize 'lack of empirical" evidence as a weapon in a debate on whether or not God(s)/desse(s) exist when they themselves have not even put in the work / effort in addition to opening her/his heart... to say.... a Deity that they would probably feel connected to just by mere characteristics alone. Not that I condone experimenting for the heck of it with the Divine as I find that a bit rude, but at the same time, I can not put any emphasis on someone's argument who has not even attempted to do the footwork.

I don't know how you are using the term, but I can certainly envision a way to do polytheism, where you don't see the gods in the mythical literalist sense, but you see them in 'persons.' Meaning, one might assess a person, in your life as have "the gods shining through them." Which would make every "god" emminent in the people you know.

I see “God” as an energy that is life and can be felt and expressed in love. Many have called God by one name or many names, as in Hinduism, It is what It is. As the Tao Te Ching said “the name that can be named is not the Eternal Name.” I believe that God spoke to every culture in different times, so you could say that each prophet was Christ, they were all manifestations of God. I’ve always felt closer to God when in nature far more than when in a crowded building. All religions are like branches on one tree, the world is one country and all Humanity is its citizens.

I'm a new Heathen/ Asatruar and I converted my religion to Asatru (Norse Paganism) recently on my papers at work... I don't want to be EVER associated or identified with people who are racist. Should I change the religion to a different name like Heathen? Or is Asatru an okay term for Heathen? I'm very new.

After a few of your videos and my own heathen thoughts I've come to this. Only in the Abrahamic religions is evil defined. A view fitting of a massive grouping of stone age peoples. The "Kingsland warlords going back to Moses would use fear to bolster their own power. Just as do governments and the Vatican today. The pagan gods stem from a time of nature gods and animal worship. Is the wolf "evil" when killing a Elk calf, deer faun? Or is the wolf providing food for its own young? In nature Good and evil don't really exist. The natural world just is. So it stands to reason again that the 1st tellings of the gods reflected this. Like the Norse gods do. Odin good but then the wild hunt. A more realistic view. Gods are more super human. Where the God of Abraham, all powerful.

In my opinion, at the point where I'm writing this (about half an hour in), is that the atheist is assuming that science and religion are oil and water, so I must do all kinds of superstitious oddities if my religion requires it, and I have no recourse to science in my decision making process. It's true that he realises that maybe I, and many like me can be both polytheist and guided by the findings of people with lab coats and beakers, but he's also thinking that religion could lead others astray. Which brings me to my second point... The same could be said for atheism. The 'superiority' of atheism fuelled the deaths of tens of millions during the 20th century (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot). Any ideology of superiority can get us to a bad place. Followers of a politician, with access to TV and internet, can deny he lost an election or deny the outcomes of the legal process, and prepare their hands for war, and no God necessary. It's ideology that gets us there, and taking religion out of the picture only offers a false sense of security.

Baptists get criticized for "inventing" the age of accountability but in a way what they say makes more sense than atheists automatically claiming everyone's babies as members of their "organization" infants & up to a certain "magical age" cannot make decisions for themselves learning to speak & to walk is the first essential struggle to overcome & eventually they will become aware of what is really going on the first time that they ask "why is the ...?" that is when you can get a hint that some deeper thinking is going on so atheists claiming that babies are atheists is almost equivalent to the RCC being allowed to baptize everyone's baby without parental knowledge just so they can claim more numbers I have heard rumors that this kind of thing has been done in the past in certain places even if rumors are unfounded someone actually imagined it which is bad enough anyways the best way to look at them is basically undecided until they inform everyone what they actually believe

I would VERY much hesitate to say that all spirituality is witchcraft. Namely, in a lot of faiths such as Islam and also really academic forms of orthodox Christianity, theurgy is outright heretical superstition because you can not compel the God(s) to do your will; instead, they consider prayer to be for an internal effect of aligning your will to God's will as opposed to the other way around. That sort of view where the divine is entirely out of your control and attempting to control it is bad seems utterly antithetical to witchcraft.
